East Timor 】
Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) of Timor-Leste (East Timor) has launched the country’s first Visa debit and credit cards, the bank said.
BNU currently has around 70,000 customers, 12 branches and 40 ATMs in Timor-Leste, and is present in 12 of the country’s 13 municipalities (the final one will be completed this year), employing 126 East Timorese and seven international workers (including the director-general).
The BNU was first bank to establish itself in Timor-Leste and the oldest bank operating in the territory. It is part of Portugal’s Caixa Geral de Depósitos Group and opened the first branch in Dili in 1912 and three years later Timor-Leste’s first banknotes started circulating. (macauhub)
